How do I preorder the FUV?

Arcimoto is currently accepting preorders with a fully refundable deposit of $100. To save your place in line, place your preorder here. United States west coast reservations placed now are expected to be able to complete their reservation within one year. For the rest of the country, we will be expanding our service network and delivery capability gradually over the next 18 months, and expect to be delivering nationwide by the end of 2021. We will be updating this timeline frequently as we expand.

I preordered. What happens next?

Once we are close to building your vehicle, we will contact you to collect a non-refundable deposit to secure your place in the production queue. You’ll have the opportunity to choose all your desired features and options before placing a production deposit. We will then work with you to finalize delivery or pickup options for your new Arcimoto vehicle.

If I place my preorder today, when will Arcimoto deliver my FUV?

United States west coast reservations placed now are expected to be able to complete their reservation within one year. For the rest of the country, we will be expanding our service network and delivery capability gradually over the next 18 months, and expect to be delivering nationwide by the end of 2021. We will be updating this timeline frequently as we expand.

These are estimates, as bringing any vehicle from a concept sketch to full-scale production is an enormous undertaking. We recommend you sign up for the newsletter to stay up to date with the latest production news.

I currently live outside of your delivery area. Can I pick up my vehicle at the factory and bring it home?

Not at this time. As soon as we are ready to open your area for delivery, we will contact you to complete your vehicle reservation.

Will Arcimoto have dealerships?

At this time, Arcimoto is looking into rental, or “rentail,” partnerships rather than the traditional dealership model. If you’re interested in partnering with Arcimoto for franchise opportunities, please contact sales@arcimoto.com.

What are the financing options?

We plan to offer creative financing options. We have had discussions with a number of financial institutions that expressed interest in partnering with Arcimoto and offering loans for FUV purchases.

Are there any tax incentives for the FUV?

Currently, there are no federal tax incentives. Unfortunately, the federal EV tax credit only applies to passenger vehicles and light trucks. The federal tax credit for electric motorcycles, which is the one that would apply to our vehicle, was sunsetted at the end of 2016 and has not been reinstated. We are working to change that.

Your state may or may not have an applicable electric motorcycle tax credit. Currently the states of Oregon, California, Massachusetts, Maryland, Arizona, and Illinois offer tax incentives. These are subject to change, so check with your state’s laws.

We’d love your help. Contact your representatives and tell them you would like to see a tax credit for electric motorcycles and three-wheeled vehicles.

Does Arcimoto provide FUV fleet options?

Yes. Custom and branded fleet vehicle options are available for the Deliverator, Rapid Responder, and the FUV. Please contact Arcimoto Fleets at fleets@arcimoto.com to learn more.

Do you sell and ship outside of the U.S.?

Not at this time. We will begin accepting international preorders as we complete homologation efforts in other regions. We do not yet have a timeline when Arcimoto vehicles will be available internationally. We recommend you sign up for our newsletter for updates on when Arcimoto vehicles will be available in your area.

Products

What is the FUV?

The Fun Utility Vehicle is an ultra-efficient, three-wheeled electric vehicle designed for everyday driving. It features comfortable seating for two, a top speed of 75 MPH, and a range of 102 city miles per charge. It features a stable driving platform, and, unlike two-wheel motorcycles, requires no balance or leaning to operate. With just a brief familiarization with the simple motorcycle controls, anyone can drive the FUV with ease.

Is the FUV classified as a car or a motorcycle?

Currently, all three-wheel vehicles, including the FUV, are classified as motorcycles. Depending on your state’s laws, motorcycle helmets and a motorcycle license or endorsement may be required.

By demonstrating how simple it is to operate Arcimoto vehicles, we are working with legislators around the country to create exemptions for helmet and license requirements. We’d love your help. Contact your representatives and tell them you would like to see the FUV exempted from motorcycle helmet and license requirements.

What does it feel like to drive the FUV?

The FUV is a thrilling ride unlike any other vehicle on the market today. The FUV is designed to be a simple, joyful driving experience that is easy to learn. Built on the three-wheel Arcimoto platform, the FUV is stable and balanced, and the controls are simple and intuitive. The FUV’s top speed is 75 mph, and it has a range of 102 miles under city driving conditions. Driving at a high speed for an extended period will affect the range.

Additionally, because of the quiet ride and curved roof design, it’s easy for the driver and a passenger to carry on a conversation. With the inclusive roof and windshield, you are protected from the elements. With its open configuration, you are more connected to the road.

How does the FUV braking system work?

The FUV features two braking systems: a hydraulic brake pedal and a parking brake.

The hydraulic brake pedal is located on the driver’s right side, and is used just like a traditional foot brake found in cars – to slow the vehicle or hold a complete stop.

The parking brake will hold your vehicle at a complete stop when parked on flat ground and an incline.

Does the FUV have 'Regen' and how does it work?

The FUV also features an energy recovery system: KERS-RBS, or “Regen” for short. Regen enables the FUV to capture energy back into the battery, by slowing the motion of the vehicle at higher speeds. As long as the vehicle is moving quickly, the rapidly rotating motors are able to generate electricity for storage and reuse later. However, regen cannot bring the vehicle to a complete stop, nor can it hold the vehicle at a complete stop.

Regen is activated by a trigger attached to the right handlebar. When activated, Regen will slow your vehicle while recharging the battery by recovering the kinetic energy of the vehicle. However, Regen will not operate when the motor is not turning, so it won’t hold the vehicle at a complete stop. The hydraulic brake pedal and Regen can be used together to more rapidly slow the vehicle.

Will Arcimoto offer fully enclosed versions of its vehicles?

Full enclosures are in development for future Arcimoto models. In the very near future, the FUV can be outfitted with “West Coast Doors,” hard plastic half doors which can be easily removed and re-installed as desired. We do not yet have a timeline on when fully-enclosed models will be available.

Do Arcimoto vehicles include heat or AC?

Arcimoto vehicles may be equipped with optional heated seats and grips. At this time, heating and air conditioning are not available. We do plan on offering these as options for future, fully enclosed models.

How do Arcimoto vehicles perform in snow?

Arcimoto vehicles have demonstrated strong performance in snow when driving on plowed roads. The vehicle’s low center of gravity and forward-weighted body increases stability. We do not recommend driving in deep snow or on unplowed roads.

What are the safety features of the FUV?

Arcimoto has demonstrated that the FUV meets the performance requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for a motorcycle. Learn more on our Safety Page.

Do I need to wear a helmet or have a motorcycle license when driving?

Motorcycle helmets and motorcycle endorsements/ licenses may be required in your area for legal operation of this vehicle. In some U.S. States, regulations define an “Enclosed Cab” as a partially or completely enclosed seating area for the driver and passenger that is certified by the manufacturer as meeting the standards prescribed under 49 CFR 571.216a. When meeting this definition, such regulations provide exemptions for qualified persons to operate or ride upon this three-wheeled motorcycle without (i) wearing upon his or her head a motorcycle helmet, and/or (ii) holding a motorcycle endorsement or motorcycle license. Multiple U.S. States on the date of manufacture may already have such regulations.

Check your local requirements for details. Follow the laws of your State.

Can children ride in the FUV?

Seat belts are always required for operation and riding in the FUV. Our seat belt manufacturer has provided the following restrictions for use of our seat belt system:

  • Never use the seat belt system for children under the age of 12 years or to install an infant seat, child seat, or booster seat.
  • Never use the seat belt system for persons who weigh less than 88 pounds or those who are less than 4’11” tall, regardless of age.

How is the FUV insured?

The FUV is currently recognized as insurable by Progressive, Allstate, State Farm, and American Family. We are working on adding other major insurance carriers. We recommend you contact your local agent.

How do I charge my FUV?

The FUV’s integrated charger can be connected to either a 110V household outlet or standard 220V household outlet, as well as any Level 1 or Level 2 charging station. When away from home, we recommend using an app like ChargePoint to find your nearest charging stations.

How long does it take to charge the FUV?

Using a Level 1 charging station or 110V outlet, the estimated time for a full charge from empty is at least 8 hours. Using a Level 2 charging station or 220V outlet, the estimated time is at least 4 hours. Charging at a high or low temperature will affect the charging time and charge retention.

Does the FUV support fast charging?

The FUV supports standard Level 1 and Level 2 charging, available at 110v and 220v household outlets as well as public charging stations. For future models, we are exploring fast-charging options.

What is the lifetime of the battery system?

We don’t yet have the longitudinal data to make a definitive claim, but we are hopeful based on our pack design and data from the cell manufacturer that the li-ion batteries used in the FUV will last up to 8 years or more with normal vehicle usage, and still maintain more than 80% of their original charging capacity. Field testing and continuous improvements are ongoing, and we will provide more data as it is available.

What is the FUV manufacturer’s warranty?

Arcimoto vehicles are covered by a standard 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. You can view the warranty here.

How will Arcimoto vehicles be serviced?

Arcimoto is building its network of mobile service providers who can assist you when you need service or maintenance. The design of the FUV will make servicing a very straightforward process, and most replacement parts are off-the-shelf.

We’ve started to build our service network in initial cities, and will continue to expand as our production levels increase. Additionally, we have entered into a partnership with Road America to provide nationwide 24-hour roadside assistance to Arcimoto owners. More details will be provided as the service develops.

How do I find out if there are open recalls on my FUV?

You can enter your VIN here to see if your vehicle is under recall.
